What is EFT?

We now know that much of how we come to understand ourselves and our place in life is formed by early childhood experiences.

How Clinical EFT Works

Folding together concepts of modern psychology and ancient Chinese knowledge of energy meridians, Clinical EFT provides an access to difficult emotional, physical sensation, or memories while using tapping or gentle pressure on energy meridian points.

The tapping or pressure on the meridian points lowers the stress response and allows the body and brain a new experience of the event or sensations being held in mind while tapping.

The contrary experience of calming the body while holding distressing events or sensations in mind allows for a new pathway in the brain and often a changed experience of these events.

Many people will experience the event categorized chronologically–suddenly this past event falls into the past and is no longer playing out in the back of the mind.

Physical sensations will find an energetic release from the body. Many will experience a state of relaxation, or energy shifts. A changed way of thinking about the event or sensation and a changed way of viewing themselves is a common response to clinical EFT.

What Happens in the Body

An event occurs

An emotional response (experienced as sensations in the body)

Thoughts that give meaning to the event and often how we come to understand ourself and our place in life
The event continues in our experience through physical sensations and the ways we come to understand ourselves.  We find ourselves triggered, reactive in ways we do not understand, or full of pain.

Bring in EFT

By tapping on these energy meridian points while keeping an event in mind calms the brain and sensations to help us experience a cognitive shift and we have a new way of experiencing oneself in the world. Even those who do not have specific childhood memories can find benefit from EFT. The technique has been found to be very effective in working with physical sensations and freeing emotional energy from the body.

What Happens After EFT?

The techniques change the brain waves and patterns --think of rewiring an electrical system. It also changes us biochemically.

Research demonstrates:

· Lowered cortisol (stress hormone) levels

· Reduced inflammation

· Increased immunity response

· A change in gene expression
